98.1 Committees and Operating Rhythm
Proposal for Modifying U-M Club of Seattle Committee Structure and Operating Rhythm

A. Committee Structure
The following are proposed.
Each committee to have a chair and possibly one or more additional members. Each chair to be drawn from the Board of Directors. Additional committee members need not be Directors. Each committee to work within the constraints of its annual budget allocation. All Directors to serve on one or more committees.
1. Executive Committee
Composed of club officers (president, VP, secretary, treasurer) and ex officio (past president).
Chaired by the president.
Responsible for general oversight of club operations, including committee assignments, chair appointments and budgeting.
Responsible for annual meeting of members in May.
2. Club Documents
Responsible for maintenance of static pages on our website, and for club bylaws, and other policy and procedure documents.
Responsible for organization and safekeeping of all club documents, including those identified above, but also for minutes, financial reports, event documentation, and any other documents stored in any digital repository used by the club .
3. General Event Programming
Responsible for programming all club events other than those called out elsewhere.
4. Community Service
Responsible for community service events.
5. Sports Programming
Responsible for game watch parties.
6. Big Ten Council Liaison
Responsible for representing the U-M Club in all affairs conducted by the local Big Ten Alumni Council.
7. Marketing Communications (aka MarCom)
Responsible for social media and email newsletters.
8. Alumni Student Recruitment
Responsible for liaison with local ASR representatives, for the Admitted Students Reception, and for the summer student sendoff.
9. Scholarship Fund-Raising
Responsible for club merchandise, and all other scholarship fund-raising activities.
10. Scholarship Awards Committee
Responsible for selection of scholarship recipients.
11. Member Engagement & Recruiting
Responsible for general recruiting efforts, both for the board of directors and for committees. Recruiting is a shared responsibility with other board members and committee chairs.
B. Operating Rhythm
The president, VP, secretary, treasurer, general programming chair and MarCom chair are expected to attend every board meeting.
Other chairs and committee members are always welcome to attend, but need only attend when their committees need to report on and/or coordinate current or upcoming committee activities.
